Children's Team Manager – Duty & Assessment

About the role

The Leeds City Council is seeking an experienced Children’s Team Manager to lead its Duty and Assessment service. You will oversee a team delivering child protection, child‑in‑need planning and court‑related work, ensuring the child remains at the centre of every decision.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and direct a team of professional social workers, an Advanced Practitioner and a Social Work Assistant.
• Ensure statutory duties of the Local Authority are met, including duty and assessment, child protection, and court proceedings.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding best practices across the team.

Required profile

• Formal Social Work qualification (DipSW, bachelor's or master's degree).
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, including the Children’s Act 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children and related updates.
• Understanding of child development stages, particularly adolescence and transition to adulthood.
