Children's Team Manager – Leaving Care (Bolton)

About the role

Our client, a Greater Manchester council, is looking for a Children’s Team Manager to lead its Leaving Care team in Bolton. You will support young people aged 16‑25 as they move from care to independent adulthood, ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Leaving Care team, overseeing support for young people aged 16‑25.
• Develop, review and maintain high‑quality Pathway Plans.
• Provide supervision and direction to Personal Advisors and Social Workers.
• Ensure statutory duties under the Children (Leaving Care) Act are met.
• Manage complex, high‑risk cases and make critical decisions.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and chair multi‑agency meetings.
• Oversee risk management, safeguarding, and budgets, including home allowances.
• Promote a culture of aspiration, independence and resilience.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years’ experience as a qualified social worker.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Strong knowledge of the Children (Leaving Care) Act and related legislation.
• Experience working with young people transitioning from care.
