Cisco Network Engineer – Firewall Remediation (Financial Services)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cisco Network Engineer to lead a firewall rule review and remediation project for a leading financial services client in London. The role is hands‑on, focusing on analysing existing Cisco firewall policies, addressing audit findings, and ensuring compliance with security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review, analyse and modify Cisco firewall rule sets in line with security and audit findings.
• Identify redundant, obsolete or overly permissive rules and recommend remediation actions.
• Conduct impact assessments and risk analysis before implementing changes.
• Support closure of network‑related security audit findings and document all changes for BAU teams.
• Participate in change‑management processes and collaborate with IT Security, audit and infrastructure teams.
• Provide out‑of‑hours support for planned changes when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in network engineering and firewall administration.
• Strong Cisco networking background, including routing, switching and security platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower or Cisco Secure Firewall.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, NAT, ACLs and overall network security principles.
• Familiarity with ITIL, change‑management and enterprise support processes.
