Civil Engineer – Drainage & Infrastructure Design

About the role

I am recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join a respected consultancy in Birmingham delivering residential and commercial development projects. This role focuses on private and adoptable drainage design from concept through to technical approval, offering progression within a supportive civil engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed foul and surface water drainage designs using MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Prepare S38, S278 and S104 technical submissions.
• Create engineering drawings using AutoCAD with PDS or Civil 3D.
• Liaise with clients, council officers and internal design teams.
• Support feasibility studies, technical reports and project documentation.
• Contribute to planning coordination and quality assurance activities.
• Develop technical capability through project‑based learning and structured training.

Required profile

• Degree qualified Civil Engineer or related discipline.
• Three to four years UK experience in drainage and highways design.
• Confident using AutoCAD, PDS or Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Strong communication, numeracy and problem‑solving skills.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects in a consultancy environment.
