Civil Technician – Residential Infrastructure (On‑Plot Civils)

About the role

We are seeking a Civil Technician to join our established engineering consultancy in Hertfordshire. The role focuses on on‑plot civil engineering design for residential developments, delivering detailed drawings from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Produce on‑plot civil engineering designs for residential schemes.
• Model earthworks and levels using industry‑standard software.
• Design surface water and foul drainage systems.
• Prepare external works layouts, setting‑out drawings, sections and construction details.
• Create accurate 2D CAD drawings and technical documentation.
• Coordinate design information across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ensure all work complies with current standards and client requirements.

Required profile

• Experience as a Civil Technician within a consultancy environment.
• Knowledge of residential development and on‑plot infrastructure design.
• Strong understanding of technical drawing standards and construction detailing.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive attitude with keen attention to detail.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (2D CAD drawing).
• Civil 3D (desirable).
• Earthworks modelling and level design.
• Drainage layout and design (surface water and foul).
• External works layout preparation and setting‑out drawing creation.
