Civils Estimator – £75,000 per annum (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Civils Estimator to join a leading multi‑discipline civil engineering and building contractor. Based in Warrington, you will deliver accurate tender estimates and support the commercial success of a range of infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive estimating service for assigned projects or a portfolio of projects.
• Identify potential risks through initial analysis of project documentation.
• Prepare tender estimates from first principles using Conquest estimating software, incorporating subcontractor quotations and material prices.
• Conduct site visits to assess site‑specific complexities and access requirements.
• Lead and participate in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors during the tender process.
• Engage in pre‑tender discussions and sign‑off with senior colleagues.
• Attend pre‑ and post‑tender meetings with client representatives.
• Conduct handover meetings with contract and commercial teams to ensure full understanding before contract signing.
• Monitor inflation, exchange rates and projected timescale costs.
• Gather feedback from site teams on estimating adequacy and current costs.

Required profile

• HND/C in Civil Engineering (BEng/BSc desirable).
• Minimum two years’ experience in an estimating department.
• Strong understanding of construction techniques, outputs and market cost relationships.
• Ability to produce bills of quantities from drawings, manually or via software.
• Proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tender opportunities with minimal supervision.
• High level PC literacy, especially with Conquest Series Q, Microsoft Excel, Word and Project.
• Desirable: CSCS Card, knowledge of CESMM/SMM methods, activity schedule production, contract sum analysis.
