Claims Dispute & Litigation Controller

About the role

We are looking for a Claims Dispute & Litigation Controller to join our Claims Team in Newcastle. The role sits within a growing Newcastle disputes practice, primarily focusing on aviation‑related claims for major airline clients on passenger disputes, while also providing exposure to a broader range of consumer disputes work. It offers a varied and dynamic introduction to commercial litigation within a collaborative, high‑performing global firm.

Key responsibilities

• Assist legally qualified colleagues in the conduct of high‑volume consumer claims, both within the aviation sector and in other key sectors.
• Maintain accurate case management records and meet court deadlines.
• Review claims, client evidence, and other documentation to inform liability decisions.
• Draft legal documents including defences, witness statements, and other court forms.
• Support CPR‑compliant case progression, produce exhibit bundles and hearing bundles.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, counsel, and third‑party opponents.
• Attend mandatory mediation appointments.
• Produce post‑trial reports feeding into a process of continuous improvement.
• Ensure efficient, commercially focused claims handling.

Required profile

• Experience in claims, paralegal, or litigation support roles.
• Interest in aviation and consumer litigation.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proactive and commercially aware.
• Collaborative and motivated to develop.
