Claims Executive – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

Steamship Mutual is seeking a Claims Executive on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to provide maternity cover within the European Syndicate. The role focuses on P&I and FD&D claims for members, primarily based in Cyprus, while offering exposure to other European and Middle Eastern markets.

Key responsibilities

• Handle assigned P&I and FD&D claims in line with company procedures.
• Provide advice on claim‑related issues and identify loss‑prevention opportunities.
• Maintain accurate electronic correspondence and e‑files for each claim.
• Promote strong relationships between the Club and its members.
• Collaborate with the Syndicate Manager and Claims Directors for guidance and support.
• Participate in training and undertake ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a recognised jurisdiction or a recently qualified lawyer seeking a career in marine insurance and claims handling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and reporting skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
• Highly organised, motivated, detail‑oriented and able to meet deadlines.
• Proactive, self‑starting and comfortable working within a team.
