Class 1 Container Driver – HGV (LGV1, Cat C+E)

About the role

We are seeking experienced Class 1 Container Drivers to operate HGV articulated lorries for container transport in Southampton. The role covers day, night and weekend shifts on a temporary contract with immediate start.

Key responsibilities

• Operate HGV Class 1 (LGV1, Cat C+E) vehicles with automatic gearboxes for container collections and deliveries.
• Log collections, drops and status updates in real‑time using a smartphone or tablet.
• Follow site‑specific procedures, especially within port environments, and comply with the Working Time Directive.
• Perform daily vehicle checks, report defects, and adhere to health & safety policies.
• Provide professional service to clients and customers.

Required profile

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) licence held for at least one year.
• DP World Card and Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC).
• Valid digital tachograph card.
• Minimum one year of experience driving HGV1 class vehicles with containers.
• Good spoken and written English and knowledge of the UK motorway network.
• No more than six penalty points on your licence.

What we offer

• Pay rate from £17.00 to £25.00 per hour (higher rates for night shifts).
