Class 1 Shunter Driver

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Class 1 CE licence holder to join our Estover depot in Plymouth, performing shunting operations between Estover and Heathfield. The role involves safe vehicle movements, loading/unloading trailers and supporting yard activities during a Monday‑Friday day shift.

Key responsibilities

• Perform up to four vehicle shunts per day between Estover and Heathfield.
• Shunt, load and unload trailers within the depot, positioning units in designated bays and yard areas.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections using company mobile technology.
• Liaise with the transport office and team to provide updates on trailer status, safety checks and load conditions.
• Support general yard operations to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
• Participate in regular training and complete shunter training to maintain competence.

Required profile

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 CE licence.
• Current DCPC Card and UK Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Strong customer service attitude and ability to work under deadlines.
• Good geographical knowledge and collaborative team player.

Required skills

• Operation of HGV Class 1 vehicles.
• Use of mobile inspection technology.
• Understanding of DCPC and tachograph regulations.
