Class 2 Refuse Driver – Temp to Permanent (HGV2)

About the role

This position involves safely operating Class 2 vehicles to collect refuse across Portsmouth and surrounding areas. The role starts as a temporary assignment with the prospect of becoming permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Drive HGV2/LGV2/Class 2 vehicles to collect waste on assigned routes.
• Handle refuse alongside crew members, including occasional heavy lifting.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑shift vehicle checks and report any defects.
• Complete all required paperwork and digital records accurately.
• Adhere to traffic laws, health‑and‑safety policies, and company procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience driving HGVs.
• Clean driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to work 07:00‑15:00 Monday‑Thursday and 07:00‑14:30 Friday, with occasional weekend shifts.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely.

Required skills

• Rear‑steer experience (or willingness to be trained).
