Cleaning Assistant – Part‑time (20 hrs/week)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Cleaning Assistant to join the facilities team at Gloucestershire’s largest comprehensive school. The role is part‑time, 20 hours per week, Monday‑Friday afternoons, supporting a safe and tidy learning environment for around 1,800 students and 200 staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cleaning duties in assigned areas to the required standard and within the allocated time.
• Clean surfaces, fixtures, fittings and both hard and soft floor coverings using appropriate methods and equipment.
• Collect and bag waste, ensure proper disposal and maintain tidy workspaces.
• Check that windows are closed and lights are switched off before leaving the area.
• Maintain cleaning equipment, return it clean to stores and use materials safely and efficiently.
• Follow health and safety guidelines, including COSHH, at all times.

Required profile

• Commitment to complete relevant training and health‑and‑safety courses.
• Previous experience in a cleaning, housekeeping or similar role.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning systems and COSHH awareness.
• High standards of work and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Cleaning machinery operation (e.g., floor scrubbers, vacuums).
• Safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
