Cleaning Operative – Full‑time at Bournemouth & Poole College

About the role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cleaning Operative to join the Estates Team at Bournemouth & Poole College’s Poole campus. This permanent, full‑time position involves maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a “best in class” cleaning service across the college estate.
• Follow company procedures and all health‑and‑safety requirements.
• Clean classrooms, offices, corridors, kitchens, toilets and washrooms.
• Carry out waste removal and maintain hygiene standards.
• Perform weekly deep cleans of designated areas.
• Operate carpet cleaners and hard‑floor cleaning equipment.
• Maintain cleaning equipment in a clean and hygienic condition.
• Work to a structured daily cleaning schedule and support wider team tasks as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a cleaning role (experience in an education setting desirable).
• Good knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment and chemical use.
• Understanding of health and safety practices.
• Proactive “can‑do” attitude with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, adaptable and committed to high standards.
• Willingness to work evenings.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) and/or relevant cleaning training are desirable.
