Clerical Officer – Emergency & Acute Medical Unit (Fixed‑term)

About the role

Join the Acute & Diagnostic Administration Team at NHS Dumfries and Galloway as a Clerical Officer supporting the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit. You will provide essential front‑line administrative assistance, ensuring patients are received and registered efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clerical and administrative support across the Emergency Department and Clinical Assessment Unit.
• Receive and register patients promptly and accurately.
• Collaborate with medical and nursing teams to maintain smooth service delivery.
• Follow a rolling 4‑week rota covering day, evening, weekend and night shifts.
• Work under the guidance of the Team Leader, Administration Services Coordinator and Manager.

Required profile

• Team player with a positive, “can‑do” attitude.
• Organised, detail‑oriented and strong communicator.
• Self‑motivated, enthusiastic and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and shift patterns.
• Full PVG clearance required.
