About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible Clerical Officer to join the Acute & Diagnostic Administration Team within the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit of NHS Dumfries and Galloway. This part‑time, fixed‑term position runs until February 2027 and involves a rotating 4‑week roster covering day, evening, weekend and night shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the Emergency Department and Clinical Assessment Unit.
- Receive and register patients promptly and accurately.
- Collaborate closely with medical and nursing teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records and manage patient flow at reception.

- Team player with a positive, “can‑do” attitude.
- Organised, detail‑oriented and able to communicate clearly.
- Calm under pressure and adaptable to changing priorities and shift patterns.
- Self‑motivated, enthusiastic and committed to patient care.
