Client Bookkeeper

About the role

Armstrong Knight is seeking an experienced Client Bookkeeper to join its well‑established accountancy practice. You will manage a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and SMEs, delivering accurate bookkeeping services while building strong client relationships. Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of bookkeeping clients and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Process sales and purchase ledgers, perform bank and control account reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and, where applicable, CIS returns.
• Produce management accounts and assist clients with cloud accounting software.
• Liaise directly with clients to resolve bookkeeping queries.
• Support the accounts team with year‑end preparation and ensure compliance with HMRC and VAT legislation.

Required profile

• Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
• Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of VAT; CIS experience is a plus.
• AAT qualified or qualified by experience.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
