Clinical Technologist Associate Practitioner – Medical Equipment

About the role

The Department of Medical Physics at Western General Hospital is seeking a Clinical Technologist Associate Practitioner to join the Medical Equipment Management Service. This permanent, full‑time position (36 hours per week) supports the delivery, maintenance and safety of a wide range of medical devices used across the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on electronic and electro‑mechanical medical equipment.
• Diagnose faults, repair or replace components, and ensure equipment meets regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and contribute to equipment risk assessments.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to minimise equipment downtime and support safe patient care.
• Participate in the implementation of new technologies and upgrades.

Required profile

• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in electronics, medical engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in an electronic servicing role, preferably within a healthcare or similar technical environment.
• Self‑motivated, able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Eligibility for PVG Scheme membership/record.
