CNC Machinist – Aerospace Composite Manufacturing (Bristol)

About the role

We are seeking skilled CNC Machinists to join a leading aerospace composite manufacturer in Bristol. The role is on a 6‑month rolling contract with genuine temp‑to‑perm potential, working a 12/7 shift pattern to produce aircraft components from composite and metallic materials.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, set up and programme CNC rout, 5‑axis Zimmerman drilling, fettling gantry and jigged vacuum fixture machines.
• Use Renishaw probing and cutter‑tool setting equipment to ensure precision.
• Load and secure fixtures and tooling, following aircraft design drawings.
• Measure, test and assemble components up to 15 m in length.
• Participate in lean manufacturing, waste reduction and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to Health & Safety, COSHH and quality system requirements.

Required profile

• Apprenticeship or Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ in engineering (aero/engineering degree considered).
• 3–5 years experience on CNC machines, preferably with Siemens 840D control.
• Understanding of aircraft drawings, limits and quality standards.
• Self‑motivated with good communication skills and ability to work both independently and in small teams.
