CNC Machinist (Lathe)

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established precision engineering manufacturer in Liverpool to recruit an experienced CNC Machinist (Lathe). The role involves operating, setting up and programming CNC lathes to produce high‑precision components for demanding industries.

Key responsibilities

• Set, operate and program CNC lathes to meet production targets.
• Produce precision‑machined components to tight tolerances.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Select and set tooling, offsets and cutting parameters.
• Carry out first‑off, in‑process and final inspections using micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cycle‑time reductions.
• Maintain a safe, organised work environment and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a CNC lathe machinist.
• Ability to set and operate CNC lathes independently.
• Experience editing or creating CNC programmes.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
• Commitment to quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Apprenticeship or engineering qualification advantageous.
