CNC Miller / Turner

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Miller / Turner to join a growing precision engineering business in Chelmsford. The role involves programming, setting and operating multi‑axis CNC equipment to produce high‑quality components for sectors such as aerospace, medical and scientific.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate 3‑, 4‑ and 5‑axis CNC milling and turning machines according to customer specifications.
• Manufacture precision components for scientific, communications, aerospace and medical applications.
• Perform first‑off inspections and ensure parts meet tolerance and finish requirements.
• Support the introduction of new projects and troubleshoot machining issues.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area and adhere to health and safety procedures.
• Provide cover for the milling team during absences and assist other departments as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ experience programming and setting multi‑axis CNC machines.
• Proficient with CAD/CAM software, preferably Hypermill.
• Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• High attention to detail with a focus on quality and finish.
• Capable of working independently and using own initiative.

Required skills

• Hypermill CAD/CAM software.
• Reading engineering drawings.
• Component inspection to high accuracy.
