CNC Offline Programmer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Offline Programmer to join a leading precision engineering company in Leeds. The role involves creating and refining CNC programs for new and existing components, working closely with engineers and customers to ensure efficient, high‑quality manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Create and modify CNC programs offline using CAD/CAM software, preferably Edgecam.
• Collaborate with design and production engineers to select optimal machining methods.
• Estimate cycle times and tooling costs for quoting and production planning.
• Liaise with customers’ engineering teams on design‑for‑manufacture issues.
• Design fixtures and work‑holding solutions and produce supporting technical drawings.
• Work with inspection and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Engage with tooling suppliers and assist the purchasing function when required.
• Provide technical problem‑solving support to the machine shop team.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a CNC machining environment after apprenticeship or training.
• Proven offline programming experience.
• HND or equivalent in Engineering; apprenticeship‑trained candidates preferred.
• Strong commercial awareness and willingness to meet customers, including occasional overseas travel.

Required skills

• Edgecam (or similar CAD/CAM) software.
• Offline CNC programming.
• CAD/CAM programming proficiency.
• Fixture design and technical drawing creation.
• Knowledge of steel castings and post‑processors (beneficial).
