CNC Setter/Operator – £32,000 to £35,000 per year

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Setter/Operator to join a leading engineering company in Southend‑on‑Sea. The role offers a permanent Monday‑to‑Thursday schedule with weekends off and provides training in grinding and second‑operation equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC machines and manual equipment safely.
• Operate second‑operation machines such as thread‑rolling, part markers, drill banks, depitching presses, torque testers and deburrers.
• Read and measure components using micrometres to tight tolerances.
• Perform first‑off and job‑run inspections, including buddy checks.
• Maintain machine efficiency to meet on‑time delivery, parts‑per‑hour and KPI targets.
• Produce parts to agreed quality standards and complete daily maintenance and cycle‑time sheets.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience setting and running CNC and manual machines.
• Confident interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Previous experience in the aerospace or defence sectors is essential.
• Driver’s licence and own transport due to site location.
