CNC Sliding Head Operator / Setter - early and late shifts

About the role

We are seeking a CNC Sliding Head Operator/Setter to join a precision engineering company in Braintree. The role works a 37‑hour week on rotating early and late shifts, delivering high‑quality components from CNC sliding head lathes.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC sliding head machines, loading programs and tooling according to the tools list and work instructions.
• Run first‑off parts, verify them against drawings and quality requirements, and ensure production meets required quantities.
• Conduct in‑process inspections using measuring equipment, record QA data, and maintain compliance with health & safety procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience setting and operating CNC sliding head lathes in an engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications.
• Familiarity with Fanuc or Siemens CNC programming and problem‑solving on the shop floor.
