CNC Turner – Precision Machining

About the role

We are seeking a skilled CNC Turner to join our client’s manufacturing team. You will program, set and operate CNC lathes to produce precision components to micron‑level tolerances, often using exotic high‑performance alloys. The role reports to the Machine Shop Manager and operates in a workshop‑based precision machining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set, program and operate CNC turning machines.
• Manufacture components to tight tolerances, typically within microns.
• Work with exotic materials such as Inconel, Titanium, Hastelloy and Duplex alloys.
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications, selecting appropriate cutting tools, speeds and feeds.
• Conduct in‑process inspection using precision measuring equipment and ensure all parts meet quality standards.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, make adjustments and follow safety procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner, including machining exotic alloys.
• Ability to machine complex components to tight tolerances.
• CNC programming experience and ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Understanding of tooling, machining strategies and inspection/quality processes.
• Strong attention to detail and a safety‑conscious mindset.
• Desirable: engineering apprenticeship, experience in aerospace, oil & gas or defence, familiarity with CAD/CAM software and knowledge of lean manufacturing.
