CNC Turner – Setter Operator (Mazak)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Turner to join a busy subcontract precision‑engineering company. The successful candidate will operate Mazak CNC lathes, work with sub spindles and live tooling, and deliver high‑quality turned components on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate CNC lathes as a setter/operator.
• Program offsets, load tooling and optimise cycle times for efficiency and quality.
• Use sub spindles and driven/live tooling to produce complex turned parts.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Carry out first‑off checks, in‑process inspection and final measurement using micrometers, calipers and gauges.
• Maintain machine housekeeping, perform basic preventative maintenance and tool changes.
• Follow safety procedures and quality standards; report non‑conformances promptly.
• Flexibility to work overtime when required (premium rate paid).

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner/Setter Operator.
• Hands‑on experience with sub spindles and driven/live tooling.
• Strong ability to set up and run multi‑operation turning cycles.
• Competent in reading engineering drawings and performing precise measurement checks.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or as part of a team.
