Commercial Accountant

About the role

This is a business‑facing Commercial Accountant position within a large UK organisation. You will partner with operational and sales leaders across multiple sites, helping them understand performance and improve margins.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate period‑end accounts, analysis and commentary.
• Work closely with operational and sales managers to review financial performance.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and regular performance reports.
• Analyse sales, costs, margins, overheads and profitability.
• Identify risks, trends and opportunities to improve business performance.
• Provide constructive challenge and turn financial data into practical recommendations.
• Support financial evaluation of customer tenders and commercial proposals.
• Review customer rebates against contractual terms.
• Develop strong relationships across finance and operations.
• Help improve reporting processes, controls and the quality of management information.

Required profile

• AAT qualified or in the early stages of CIMA/ACCA.
• Experience in management accounting, commercial analysis or operational finance.
• Commercially curious and able to communicate with non‑finance stakeholders.
• Confident presenting findings and constructively challenging decisions.
• Proactive, personable and eager to take ownership.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience outside a traditional finance role is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Power BI (beneficial but not essential).
