Commercial and Procurement Solicitor

About the role
We are seeking a Commercial and Procurement Solicitor on an initial six‑month fixed‑term contract (with a view to extension) to join a busy commercial team supporting a local authority in the North East. The role is hybrid and offers a rate of £65 per hour.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on public procurement and the application of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
- Draft and negotiate IT, construction or commercial contracts.
- Manage grant funding, joint venture, partnership and multi‑agency agreements.
- Support major projects through legal oversight.
- Provide guidance on GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and Freedom of Information requests.
- Handle general public law matters as required.
Required profile
- Confident communicator with pragmatic problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a professional team.
- Capable of managing conflicting priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
