Commercial Business Partner – Public Sector (Temporary)

About the role

This temporary position supports a public sector department in strengthening its commercial capability. The Commercial Business Partner will lead procurement and contract management activities across a range of services, including research, consultancy, contingent labour, grant administration and IT solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex procurements, ensuring compliance with Public Procurement Regulations and tight timelines.
• Provide expert procurement advice to Heads of Commercial Operations and Procurement, supporting government requirements and risk management.
• Offer clear commercial advice to senior stakeholders and external parties, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
• Manage contract activities, including drafting and implementing Memorandums of Understanding and licences.
• Ensure consistent commercial policies and procurement processes across the department and contribute to policy improvements.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in public procurement and applying relevant legislation.
• Proven ability to manage risk throughout the commercial lifecycle.
• Strong decision‑making skills with the ability to hold stakeholders accountable and drive value for money.
• Experience in drafting and managing contracts and other formal agreements.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, fostering relationships that encourage continuous improvement.
