Commercial Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Financial Controller to lead our finance function within a fast‑growing SME operating internationally. You will work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, providing commercial insight and shaping business strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day finance operations, producing monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Manage cash flow, financial reporting, KPI analysis and year‑end processes.
• Support strategic decisions through profitability and commercial finance analysis.
• Improve financial systems, controls and reporting processes.
• Oversee payroll, credit control, VAT, compliance and related finance activities.
• Partner with sales, operations and production teams to drive business growth.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance professional.
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting background.
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical ability.
• Experience working in an SME environment.
• Knowledge of UK accounting standards and financial controls.
• Confidence to influence senior stakeholders and improve performance.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with accounting software.
