Commercial Lawyer – Self‑Employed Consultant

About the role

Richard Nelson LLP is looking for an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join its national team as a self‑employed consultant. You will operate with full autonomy, managing your own client portfolio while benefiting from the firm’s compliance, administrative, and training support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial legal advice and representation to businesses and professionals.
• Manage a personal caseload and maintain strong client relationships.
• Generate revenue through fee‑earning work and referral arrangements.
• Set your own fees and financial targets within the firm’s consultancy model.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and maintain professional indemnity coverage.

Required profile

• Senior solicitor with extensive post‑qualification experience in commercial law.
• Proven ability to manage a client base independently, with a minimum billing history of £100,000 per annum.
• Desire to work flexibly, either remotely or in a hybrid office setting.
