Commercial Management Accountant – Darlington

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Commercial Management Accountant to join the finance team at the head office in Darlington. This full‑time position offers genuine ownership of the accounts and the chance to influence operational performance through detailed analysis and stakeholder partnership.

Key responsibilities

• Full ownership of P&L statements and balance sheets.
• Prepare and post monthly journals, including accruals and pre‑payments.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Support month‑end close and produce monthly management accounts.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis against budget and forecast.
• Develop “what‑if” scenario modelling and forecasting.
• Partner with Account Directors and operational managers, translating financial data for non‑finance stakeholders.
• Participate in monthly dashboard reviews and performance calls.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and year‑end processes.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong analytical mindset with a genuine passion for detail.
• Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
