Commercial Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join a world‑class defence organisation on a 12‑month contract. The role is hybrid, requiring 2‑3 days on site in Stevenage and the remainder remote. You will work within a motivated commercial team delivering defence capability to the UK Armed Forces and international partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business strategies to maximise identified opportunities.
• Lead the full route to contract, driving the bidding process, cost delivery, proposal generation and contract negotiations.
• Ensure contract delivery meets customer promises and organisational commitments.
• Negotiate contractual issues and amendments to maintain compliance.
• Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers, focusing on collaboration.
• Act as the primary point of contact for project contractual information, including obtaining legal advice.
• Communicate with personnel at all levels and report progress to senior management.
• Represent the commercial team in progress reviews and customer meetings.
• Analyse and solve complex issues with multi‑functional support.
• Maintain day‑to‑day administration and company systems.

Required profile

• Confident written and verbal communicator.

• Adaptable, approachable and detail‑oriented.
• Analytical mindset with determination to succeed.
• Experience working with contracts and negotiating with customers, preferably within a UK MOD environment.

Required skills

What we offer

• Rate of £80.00 per hour.
• 37‑hour work week with overtime paid at time and a quarter.
• Hybrid working model – 2‑3 days onsite, remainder remote.
• Initial 12‑month contract with potential for long‑term continuation.
