Commercial Manager (M&E) – Birmingham

About the role

A leading building services contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager (M&E) to oversee commercial performance across a portfolio of mechanical and electrical projects in Birmingham. The role combines strong contractual knowledge with hands‑on commercial leadership to drive profitability and project success.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial activities across M&E projects, ensuring cost control, risk management and margin protection.
• Manage NEC/JCT contracts, variations, claims and change control processes.
• Produce accurate cost‑value reports, forecasts and financial updates for senior leadership.
• Oversee subcontract procurement, negotiation and supply‑chain management.
• Work closely with project managers to ensure commercial compliance and timely delivery.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders to support successful outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior QS within the M&E contracting or building services sector.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contract forms.
• Excellent commercial acumen with a track record of improving project profitability.
• Confident communicator capable of influencing internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
