Commercial Real Estate Underwriter

About the role

Citi is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Senior Underwriter to join its Global Commercial Real Estate Clients team. The role focuses on providing financing solutions to Ultra High Net Worth and Family Office clients across the UK, Europe and globally, supporting deal execution and portfolio management.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior underwriters and loan originators to assess and structure credit opportunities.
• Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of commercial real‑estate assets, including historical performance, pro‑forma cash‑flow projections, sensitivity analysis, tenancy schedules and operating costs.
• Prepare concise credit approval memorandums, identify key risks and recommend risk ratings and regulatory classifications.
• Assist in negotiating legal documentation for new, refinancing or restructuring transactions.
• Interact with clients, advisors and representatives throughout underwriting, execution and portfolio management.
• Manage periodic information, covenant monitoring, annual reviews, waivers and extensions, and coordinate hand‑offs to portfolio support teams.
• Identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and propose corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, Citi policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Proven track record in commercial real‑estate underwriting or credit analysis.
• Strong analytical and financial modelling abilities.
• Experience working with Ultra High Net Worth or Family Office clients is preferred.
• Ability to prepare well‑structured credit memorandums and make sound credit decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for client and internal stakeholder interaction.
