Commissioning Engineer - Electrical Strategic Weapons

About the role

Join the Strategic Weapons Test & Commissioning Team to lead commissioning activities for the next‑generation ballistic nuclear submarine platforms. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with UK and US partners to ensure complex electrical systems meet stringent safety and performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and safely execute commissioning of strategic weapon electrical systems.
• Oversee installation, testing, and maintenance of fibre‑optic and other electrical interfaces.
• Produce, review and follow test documentation and procedures.
• Record test results, maintain equipment performance logs, and support sea‑trial activities, including onboard submarine work.
• Represent the organisation at training events and technical discussions across the UK and USA.

Required profile

• HNC or equivalent qualification in an electrical discipline, or comparable engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience in testing and commissioning electrical/electronic systems.
• Familiarity with authorised documentation, test standards and HS&E practices.
• Willingness to work shift‑based activities and potentially travel to sea‑trial locations.
