Commissioning Manager (National)

About the role

Based in Bedford, the Commissioning Manager (National) will support the National Programme Procurement Lead in designing, implementing and overseeing national commissioning programmes for debt advice. Working in a hybrid environment, you will ensure that the full commercial lifecycle aligns with MaPS’ strategic priorities and regulatory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with commercial, policy and delivery teams to develop programme design and application processes.
• Manage grant award, monitoring, performance management and evaluation activities.
• Champion best practice and strengthen provider capability to deliver high‑quality, client‑focused debt advice services.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with commissioning activities.
• Maintain accurate records and collateral to support programme governance.
• Facilitate sector liaison sessions and workshops for service providers.
• Act as deputy to the National Programme Procurement Lead when required.

Required profile

• Understanding of the debt advice sector or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of the funding commissioning lifecycle and relevant public‑sector commercial standards.
• Experience working in a matrix environment with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
