Communications Test Engineer I

About the role

CesiumAstro is looking for a Communications Test Engineer I to own integration and verification of space‑communication systems that include both digital and analogue hardware. You will develop and manage test setups and software for modem and link validation at baseband and RF levels, working closely with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define, design, implement, and maintain measurement and test solutions for link/modem validation.
• Define and analyze calibration and metrology aspects, including statistical error analysis and error budgets.
• Develop modular, reusable software in Python (or similar) for a variety of test setups.
• Analyze and troubleshoot link‑performance issues.
• Collaborate with DSP, hardware, and software teams to improve overall system performance.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
• 2+ years of experience with RF measurement and instrumentation.
• 2+ years of programming experience using Python.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• RF measurement and instrumentation (analyzers, vector signal generators, power sensors, network analyzers).
• Link‑performance measurement tools (link/protocol testers, channel emulators).
• Knowledge of satellite modem standards such as DVB‑S2 and CCSDS.
• Collaborative software design tools (GIT, code reviews).
• Test automation experience.
• Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Statistical analysis and metrology.
