Community CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist (Locum)

About the role

Day Webster is seeking an experienced locum Community CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist to join the MAS service at Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust in Tunbridge Wells. The role involves delivering specialist psychiatric care to children and adolescents within a community setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment for children, adolescents and families.
• Apply a bio‑psycho‑social approach to manage complex mental health presentations.
• Make clinical decisions in line with evidence, the Mental Health Act (MHA) and Mental Capacity Act (MCA).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, interpreters and cultural liaison services.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service development.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with AC and Section 12 approval.
• Extensive experience managing a broad range of child and adolescent mental disorders, including neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Proven ability to work with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of community child and adolescent mental health services.
• Familiarity with the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
• Competence in using interpreters and translation services.
