About the role
The Community Development Assistant (South) supports the Development Manager in helping miners’ welfare charities across the South of England thrive. The role involves practical guidance, training delivery and regional travel to engage with volunteer trustees.
Key responsibilities
- Create tools, resources and training content for trustees.
- Develop policy and procedure templates for charity governance.
- Deliver training and networking events, both in‑person and online.
- Conduct site visits to charities, share best practice and identify support needs.
- Gather evidence for internal and external funding applications.
- Monitor and report on funding activity and programme evaluation.
- Support marketing activities to raise awareness of CISWO services.
- Maintain up‑to‑date information on miners’ welfare charities using databases.
Required profile
- Experience in community development or the charity sector.
- Experience supporting volunteers and delivering training.
- Strong planning, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data‑management systems.
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
- GCSE (or equivalent) grades C/4 or above in Maths and English.
- Flexibility to work some evenings as required.
