Community Employment Advisor – Empower Job Seekers

About the role

Join Newground Together in Blackburn as a Community Employment Advisor. You will empower individuals facing unemployment by helping them identify barriers, develop confidence and secure meaningful work.

Key responsibilities

• Assist delivery of new and existing employability projects aligned with organisational objectives.
• Support participants to secure employment, access training and achieve social‑value outcomes.
• Develop and implement approaches that build client confidence, overcome barriers and facilitate successful transitions.
• Engage with local businesses and employers to understand labour‑market needs and promote services.
• Recruit and retain clients in workshops, job clubs and one‑to‑one sessions, encouraging aspiration and personal development.

Required profile

• Experience working with unemployed or disadvantaged individuals.
• Ability to build partnerships with Jobcentre Plus, skills agencies and community organisations.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion and Disability Confident principles.

Required skills

• Knowledge of employability programmes and funded project delivery.
• Understanding of barriers to employment and strategies to address them.
• Experience in organising workshops, job clubs and one‑to‑one coaching.
