Community & Prison Support Coach

About the role

This position is part of a cutting‑edge criminal‑justice support programme, working across HMP Bedford and Bedford Probation. You will help individuals who have been released from prison to build a stable, structured plan for their reintegration into the community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one sessions with post‑release clients, covering housing, health, education, wellbeing and employment.
• Develop and monitor personalised resettlement plans, ensuring clear milestones and support pathways.
• Coordinate with community services, health providers and voluntary organisations to secure needed resources.
• Maintain accurate case records and report progress to supervisory staff.
• Provide sign‑posting to relevant services and follow‑up to ensure continuity of support.

Required profile

• Experience working with people in the criminal‑justice system (prison, probation or related settings).
• Background in supporting vulnerable groups such as those with mental health issues, substance misuse or homelessness.
• Relevant qualifications or experience in criminology, social work, or related fields are desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to helping clients rebuild their lives.

Required skills

• Ability to assess client needs and develop tailored support plans.
• Effective liaison with external agencies and community partners.
