Community Producer – Engage Readers & Journalists

About the role

The Guardian is looking for a Community Producer to nurture lively debate and interaction across theguardian.com and related platforms. You will act as a bridge between our audience and journalists, encouraging thoughtful discussion on topics ranging from politics to culture.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and publish articles for the new "Conversations" editorial strand.
• Host and moderate on‑ and off‑platform discussions, keeping conversations moving and adhering to community standards.
• Monitor reader comments across the site, applying guidelines and using community‑management tools.
• Identify emerging news stories or trends from audience activity and share insights with editorial teams.
• Participate in editorial meetings, contribute ideas, and help plan community‑driven initiatives.
• Liaise with editors on comment‑thread issues and promote best community practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing online communities and understanding of social‑media dynamics.
• Strong interest in current affairs and a broad awareness of diverse perspectives.
• Familiarity with the Guardian’s coverage and its multi‑platform presence.
• Ability to engage diverse audiences and navigate the intersection of community and editorial work.
• Knowledge of UK libel, defamation law and journalistic ethics.
