Complex Needs Learning Support Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant to work with learners who have complex special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The role involves providing high‑quality educational, personal care and healthcare support so that learners can safely access education and achieve their individual goals.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group support for learners with profound and multiple learning disabilities, autism, physical and sensory impairments.
• Assist learners in accessing academic, vocational, sensory and life‑skills activities.
• Provide personal care including toileting, feeding, dressing and hygiene.
• Administer medication and manage PEG feeding in line with individual healthcare plans.
• Operate manual‑handling equipment such as hoists, slings, wheelchairs and standing frames safely.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals and families.
• Maintain accurate records of care, medication and support activities.
• Follow safeguarding, health‑and‑safety, infection‑control and risk‑management procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children or young adults with complex SEND.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver personal care and manual‑handling tasks.
• Experience administering medication and supporting PEG feeding.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and learner welfare.
