Compliance Director – Maternity Cover (12‑Month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Compliance Director will lead the day‑to‑day operation and continuous improvement of 17capital’s compliance and financial‑crime framework across its regulated entities. This is a 12‑month maternity cover on a fixed‑term contract, reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer and working closely with the MLRO and the wider Legal & Compliance team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and quality‑control the work of two Compliance Associates, allocating tasks and overseeing AML/KYC, regulatory reporting and monitoring deadlines.
• Lead investor onboarding, transfer and transactional AML processes, and produce financial‑crime risk assessments for MLRO sign‑off.
• Own the Compliance Monitoring Programme, maintain the heat‑map, and ensure remediation of findings across UK (FCA), US (SEC), Dubai (DFSA) and Japan (FSA) jurisdictions.
• Produce annual regulatory reports, including the SYSC Report, Financial Crime Risk Assessment and Compliance Officer Report.
• Oversee market‑abuse controls, FATCA/CRS reporting, FCA/SEC filings and data‑protection compliance.

Required profile

• Strong working knowledge of FCA rules (SYSC, COBS, MIFID‑PRU, Reg Data) and experience with SEC filing requirements (Form ADV, Form D).
• Demonstrated expertise in UK and international AML/KYC frameworks, including investor onboarding and ongoing due‑diligence.
• Familiarity with SMCR, Material Risk Takers regime and market‑abuse regulations.
• Experience in private‑fund or alternative‑asset‑manager compliance, preferably within private‑equity or credit structures.
