Compliance Manager

About the role

The Compliance Manager will lead regulatory, privacy and consumer‑protection initiatives for a medium‑sized retail organisation. You will ensure that business practices, policies and customer interactions meet the highest standards of compliance while supporting commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a compliance framework covering UK GDPR, DPA, PECR, DMCCA, ASA/CAP and fraud‑prevention requirements.
• Own the data‑protection programme, manage SARs, law‑enforcement requests and data‑breach reporting.
• Oversee consumer‑protection and marketing compliance, providing commercial oversight of campaigns and handling customer queries.
• Collaborate with the fraud team to implement effective, proportionate controls.
• Manage relationships with Trading Standards, ICO and ASA, handling enquiries, investigations and external communications.
• Partner with directors and cross‑functional teams (Customer Services, Retail, Marketing, IT, HR, Legal, Risk) to embed compliance across the business.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years experience in a regulatory compliance role.
• Commercially minded with strong expertise in data‑protection, consumer‑protection and advertising compliance.
• Proven track record of engaging directly with regulators.
• Solid understanding of fraud risk and prevention frameworks.
• Experience handling high‑risk issues, complaints and regulatory enquiries.

What we offer

• Competitive salary between £55,000 and £65,000 per annum, plus bonus.
