Compliance Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing insurance and financial services organisation to recruit a senior Compliance Manager. Based in Hertfordshire, you will lead the regulatory function, shaping the compliance strategy and acting as the primary liaison with regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the organisation’s compliance framework covering FCA regulations, Consumer Duty, GDPR and insurance legislation.
• Serve as the main point of contact for the FCA, ICO and other regulatory bodies, handling enquiries, inspections and submissions.
• Monitor regulatory changes, update policies and procedures, and ensure timely implementation across the business.
• Prepare and submit regulatory returns, applications and mandatory reports.
• Oversee complaints governance, investigations and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Support enterprise‑wide risk management, maintaining risk registers and conflict‑of‑interest records.
• Lead internal compliance audits and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Provide expert guidance on insurance policy wording, regulatory documentation and customer communications.
• Manage GDPR compliance, including data‑breach response and data‑protection processes.
• Design and deliver compliance training programmes for staff.

Required profile

• Significant experience in compliance or regulatory roles within insurance or financial services.
• Proven ability to interact with senior regulators such as the FCA and ICO.
• Strong understanding of FCA rules, Consumer Duty, GDPR and relevant insurance legislation.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience influencing senior management.
