Compliance Manager – Risk & Compliance Lead

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established multi‑service law firm to recruit a Compliance Manager who will lead the firm’s risk and compliance function. Working closely with senior leadership, you will shape the regulatory strategy and support fee‑earners across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day risk and compliance activities and act as the primary contact for regulatory queries.
• Oversee AML, client due diligence, and ongoing monitoring processes.
• Handle conflicts of interest, confidentiality issues, and support the COLP on regulatory matters.
• Develop, review and implement compliance policies and procedures.
• Deliver compliance training and conduct file reviews, audits, and monitoring.
• Investigate breaches, recommend improvements, and produce management reports for senior stakeholders.
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure firm processes remain up‑to‑date.
• Support wider business projects, accreditations and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in legal risk and compliance within an SRA‑regulated firm.
• Strong knowledge of SRA Standards, AML legislation, CDD, KYC and sanctions requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct file reviews and compliance monitoring.
• Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach with strong attention to detail.
