Compliance Officer

About the role

As a Compliance Officer based in Stockport, you will support a not‑for‑profit housing organisation by ensuring that asbestos removal and legionella management programmes meet all regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and support asbestos removal and legionella management across the housing portfolio.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance checks against health‑and‑safety legislation.
• Review and approve asbestos survey reports and legionella risk assessments.
• Manage remedial works and monitor follow‑up actions to maintain compliance standards.
• Oversee contractor performance, ensuring safe and effective delivery.
• Liaise with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders to coordinate access and compliance activities.
• Produce compliance and performance reports and act as the primary contact for asbestos and legionella matters.

Required profile

• Recognised asbestos qualification (BOHS P402/P405 or equivalent) or working towards it.
• Legionella qualification (City & Guilds, BOHS P901 or equivalent).
• Practical experience with asbestos and legionella contractors.
• Strong understanding of health‑and‑safety legislation, compliance requirements and risk management.
• Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder‑management skills.

What we offer

• Salary between £31,537 and £33,699 per year, dependent on experience.
• Fixed‑term 12‑month contract.
