Compliance Team Leader (Law Firm)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Team Leader with a background in law‑firm environments to own and develop a high‑performing compliance function. You will act as a trusted adviser to partners, lawyers and senior stakeholders, embedding regulatory requirements into everyday business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the compliance team, ensuring day‑to‑day activities meet regulatory standards.
• Oversee compliance policies, controls and procedures, translating regulatory developments into practical actions.
• Advise lawyers and business units on AML, KYC, sanctions, conflicts and other risk matters.
• Manage compliance reviews, investigations and escalations, providing clear recommendations.
• Identify emerging risks and propose effective mitigation solutions.
• Collaborate closely with senior leadership, risk, legal and operational teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a compliance team within a law firm or professional services setting.
• Deep knowledge of legal‑sector regulatory and risk requirements.
• Strong judgement with the ability to handle sensitive or complex issues.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with senior stakeholders.
• Commercially minded approach to embedding compliance into business decisions.
