Construction Commercial Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function of a construction business based in Horley, near Gatwick. The role reports directly to the Managing Director and Board, overseeing a team of quantity surveyors, administrators and estimators while driving profitability and cash generation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the commercial department, providing strategic direction across surveying and estimating.
• Oversee monthly payment applications, cash‑flow management, final account preparation and client review meetings.
• Supervise tender submissions, review contract documents, assess commercial terms and manage contractual risks.
• Maintain project margins, control variations, manage change orders and supervise subcontract procurement.
• Produce commercial reporting, forecasting and risk analysis for live projects.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in electrical contracting, preferably within Temporary Site Services or a related sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage commercial and estimating teams and mentor staff.
• Strong contractual knowledge and commercial acumen.
• Confidence in client relationship management and delivering profitable outcomes.
